The Columbus Division of Fire has operated the Fire Safety House since 1989. During that time, approximately 10,000 children each year have been taught fire safety and evacuation procedures using the Fire Safety House. It is available from April through October free of charge to schools, churches, and civic groups that wish to emphasize fire safety to children within their group (weather permitting). The Fire Safety House can be scheduled any day from April 1st thru October 31st by calling (614) 645-7641 ext 5664. To schedule the Safety House, you must call at least three (3) weeks in advance, be located within the City of Columbus, Ohio, and have a group of at least 100 children between the ages of 3 and 10. In the event of inclimate weather, the scheduling person must call back to reschedule. All Safety House requests must be approved by our Chain of Command. Upon approval or conflict, the scheduling person will be notified.
